In previous lessons we have discussed logical proofs for the existence of a god posited by philosophers/theologians Saint Anselm and Saint Aquinas with a bit of Saint Augustine thrown into the mix. If you have followed the lessons carefully and have really contemplated the proofs presented, you know that these holy men have shown logically and conclusively that only one supreme being — one God — can and must logically exist. Saint Anselm proves in a very simple statement the existence of God, and Saint's Aquinas, in his fourth proof, in particular, precludes the existence of more than one supreme being. There can be only one ultimate Creator/Deliverer/Keeper of the Church — God Almighty!
But when we, as Catholics, say we worship the "One True God," again we are left to answer the question "Which god is the True God?" The Hindu god(s)? Allah — the god of Islam? Whether he underwent death or not is not made clear by all parts of the tradition, and if he did, it was in some remote area, far from civilization at that time.
Confucism has many admirable teachings, worthy of knowing. There is much truth to be found in the more serious of the "Confucius Say" stories. The grave of Confucius is located in a large cemetery where more than 100,000 of his descendants are also buried.
The Prophet Muhammad
Islam is the second largest religious belief system in the world with about 1.6 billion adherents. Of the five major world religions, Islam, Judaism and Christianity are the only monotheistic, "prophetic" religions. The expected growth of Islam around the wo...
