The Nativity of Christ
by Vladimir Borovikovsky
Jesus showed us what it meant to be human by living a perfect life. He showed us by example what it meant to be holy. He lived a whole human life. He could have just appeared on earth full grown and fulfilled His mission. Instead, He started just like the rest of us — in the womb of our mother.
Can you imagine? The Creator of the universe became a baby! When He was born, He couldn’t talk, walk, or eat on His own. The eternal Word of God became a speechless baby. We must depend on God, just as Jesus depended on Mary and Joseph. This is how we become saints!
Jesus came to bring us to Heaven, and to share His Father with us. He gave us the sacraments, the first of them is Baptism. Baptism allows us to become children of God.
