Remember how Samuel didn't think a king was a good idea? The people really wanted a king. So God pointed him in the direction of the next king.
Benjamin was the youngest of Jacob’s children. A man named Saul came from Benjamin’s tribe. Samuel met Saul and God told him that he would be the new king. Samuel told Saul that God had chosen him to be king.
All of the tribes of Israel came together to celebrate that Saul was the king. He was a good king and they won all their battles. But after a while Saul got greedy and disobeyed God. He stole from the people they fought with. He was filled with evil spirits. And so a new king was needed.
